Charles “Charlie” Weasley is a pure-blood wizard, the second eldest son of Arthur Weasley and Molly Weasley, and a member of the renowned Weasley family. A former Gryffindor Seeker and Quidditch Captain of legendary skill, Charlie forewent a professional sports career to pursue his passion for studying dragons in Romania. He was a loyal member of the second Order of the Phoenix and fought bravely in the Battle of Hogwarts.
Early Life and Hogwarts Years Born on 12 December 1972 (Pottermore), Charlie grew up at The Burrow with his six siblings. From a young age, he showed a love for the outdoors and magical creatures. He attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from 1984 to 1991 and was sorted into Gryffindor house. During his time at school, he was made a Prefect and became a highly celebrated Quidditch player, serving as both Seeker and Captain for the Gryffindor Quidditch team. His talent was so exceptional that Oliver Wood once remarked that Charlie “could've played for England if he hadn't gone off chasing dragons”. Work in Romania After graduating from Hogwarts, Charlie moved to Romania to work and study at a dragon sanctuary. In 1992, he played a crucial role in helping Rubeus Hagrid by arranging to have a baby Norwegian Ridgeback, Norbert, illegally smuggled out of Hogwarts. Charlie coordinated with Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger, sending friends to collect the dragon from the top of the Astronomy Tower. Second Wizarding War Charlie joined the reinstated Order of the Phoenix upon Lord Voldemort's return. Due to his work in Romania, his primary mission was to build support and recruit foreign witches and wizards to the cause against the Dark Lord. He returned to Britain for Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour's wedding in the summer of 1997. During the Battle of Hogwarts on 2 May 1998, Charlie arrived with reinforcements from Hogsmeade, led by Professor Horace Slughorn. He was seen charging the enemy lines alongside Slughorn, valiantly fighting against the Death Eaters. Later Life After the war, Charlie continued his work with dragons in Romania. He never married or had children, being more dedicated to his work than to romantic pursuits (J.K. Rowling interview).
Charlie is described as having a build typical of a Weasley, but shorter and stockier than his brothers Bill and Percy. He has a broad, good-natured, and heavily freckled face. His work with dragons has left him with a weather-beaten appearance, muscular arms, and numerous burns and large, shiny scratches. He has the family's signature red hair, which he sometimes wore long. Personality-wise, Charlie is brave, easygoing, and immensely kind. He possesses a deep love for his family and a profound passion for magical creatures, especially dragons. Unlike his brother Percy, he is not driven by ambition or authority, preferring a life of adventure and study. His willingness to break rules to help Hagrid with Norbert shows his compassionate nature and disregard for strict regulations when he believes he is doing the right thing.
