Object Information

Description and Appearance

Magical Frisbees are flying discs, similar to their Muggle counterparts, but enchanted with aggressive or troublesome properties. They are considered prank items and are banned at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. At least two distinct types are known to exist in the wizarding world:

Magical Properties and Usage

The primary purpose of magical Frisbees is amusement through mischievous chaos.

History

Both the Fanged Frisbee and the Ever-Bashing Frisbee were known magical objects long before the 1990s. In 1994, both items appeared on a long list of forbidden objects posted by caretaker Argus Filch at the start of the Triwizard Tournament at Hogwarts. During the 1995-1996 school year, Fred and George Weasley began developing their own line of joke products. They were observed testing early prototypes of Fanged Frisbees on their fellow students in the Gryffindor common room, marking the item as a future product for their planned joke shop. By the summer of 1996, the Fanged Frisbee was a popular and commercially available product at the twins' highly successful shop, Weasleys' Wizarding Wheezes, located at number ninety-three, Diagon Alley.

Role in the Story

Magical Frisbees primarily function as world-building elements that illustrate the playful and hazardous nature of magical toys in the wizarding world.
