Its window is specifically identified as the thirteenth from the right of the [[West Tower]]. =====Description and History===== Professor Flitwick's office is the personal study of the [[Charms]] Master and Head of [[Ravenclaw]] House, [[Filius Flitwick]]. Located on the seventh floor of [[Hogwarts Castle]], its precise position is near the base of the [[West Tower]]. The interior of the office is described as being very tidy. When [[Harry Potter]] is taken there in his second year, he notes that everything, including the desk and chair, seems to be sized for a very small person, accommodating Professor Flitwick's diminutive stature. The office's door can be magically secured, as [[Albus Dumbledore]] later claimed he had to "blast his way" inside to find it empty after [[Sirius Black]]'s escape. The office's single window is its most significant feature, playing a crucial role in the events at the end of Harry's third year. =====Role in the Story===== The office features in two key moments in the series: * **//Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets//**: After [[Harry Potter]] tracks mud into the castle, he is caught by [[Argus Filch]]. [[Percy Weasley]] intervenes and, finding [[Professor McGonagall]]'s study vandalized by [[Peeves]], takes Harry to Flitwick's office instead to await her. This provides the first and only physical description of the office's interior. * **//Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban//**: The office serves as a makeshift cell for [[Sirius Black]] after he is captured by [[Severus Snape]]. [[Albus Dumbledore]] ensures Sirius is held here rather than being handed over to the [[Dementors]]. He then subtly guides [[Harry Potter]] and [[Hermione Granger]] to use the [[Time-Turner]] to rescue him. While Snape guards the door and [[Cornelius Fudge]] is distracted by Dumbledore, Harry and Hermione fly [[Buckbeak]] the [[Hippogriff]] up to the office's window—the thirteenth from the right of the [[West Tower]]—and help Sirius escape from [[Hogwarts]]. =====Known Areas Within===== Professor Flitwick's office appears to be a single room. The books do not describe any anterooms, storerooms, or other adjacent areas connected to it. It primarily contains his desk and chair. =====Behind the Scenes===== In the film adaptation of //Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban//, the location of Sirius's imprisonment is changed. Instead of being held in Flitwick's office, he is locked away at the top of the [[Dark Tower]]. This change creates a more dramatic setting for the rescue scene with [[Buckbeak]]. (film)
