Levski

Levski was a wizard and a professional Quidditch player who served as a Chaser for the Bulgarian National Quidditch Team. He played in the historic 1994 Quidditch World Cup final against the Irish National Quidditch Team. He was a key offensive player alongside his famous teammate, Seeker Viktor Krum.

Levski's only known appearance in the chronicles of the Second Wizarding War era is during the 422nd Quidditch World Cup final in 1994, which took place on the Dartmoor plains in Great Britain. As a starting Chaser for Bulgaria, he played alongside fellow Chasers Ivanova and Dimitrov. During the match, as described in the commentary by Ludo Bagman, Levski was instrumental in Bulgaria's early offensive efforts. After Ireland scored the first goal, Levski quickly retaliated, taking the Quaffle and scoring past the Irish Keeper, Ryan. This act tied the score at ten-all, demonstrating his skill on an international stage. Despite the Bulgarian team's aggressive plays and Viktor Krum's eventual capture of the Golden Snitch, Ireland won the match with a final score of 170-160.

There is no description of Levski's physical appearance or personality in the novels. As a member of the Bulgarian team, he wore scarlet Quidditch Robes.

  • Quidditch Player: Levski's position as a Chaser on a national team competing in a Quidditch World Cup final indicates he was a world-class player. He demonstrated excellent offensive skill by scoring against the Irish team early in the final.
  • Flying: As a professional Quidditch player, Levski was undoubtedly an expert flier, possessing the speed, agility, and control necessary for top-tier competition.

The surname 'Levski' is distinctly Bulgarian and is famously associated with Vasil Levski (1837–1873), a Bulgarian national hero and revolutionary leader who fought for the liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman rule. Known as the Apostle of Freedom, Vasil Levski is one of the most revered figures in Bulgarian history. J.K. Rowling's choice of this name for a national player adds a layer of authentic cultural significance to the Bulgarian team.
