A Metamorphmagus (plural: Metamorphmagi) is a witch or wizard who possesses the rare, innate ability to alter their physical appearance at will. Unlike transformations achieved through Transfiguration or the use of potions like the Polyjuice Potion, this ability does not require a wand, incantation, or external ingredients. The talent is exceptionally rare and cannot be learned; an individual must be born with it. The primary example of a Metamorphmagus in the series is Nymphadora Tonks, whose abilities are a key part of her identity as both a person and an Auror. The trait is heritable, as demonstrated when her son, Edward Lupin (Teddy), is born with the same abilities.
