MinaLima is the professional name for the graphic design duo of Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima. They are responsible for establishing and creating the entire graphic design aesthetic for the Harry Potter (film series) and Fantastic Beasts (film series). Their work includes iconic props such as the Marauder's Map, the Daily Prophet, and Harry Potter's Hogwarts acceptance letter. As MinaLima's work was created specifically for the film adaptations, all information regarding them is considered “behind the scenes” and is not part of the original novel canon.

Miraphora Mina began work as a graphic designer on the set of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (film). Eduardo Lima joined the production for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (film), where the two met and began their collaboration. (film) In 2009, they formally founded their design studio, MinaLima, to continue their partnership and expand their creative work. (MinaLima official website) They have since served as the lead graphic designers for the Fantastic Beasts (film series), ensuring a consistent visual language across the cinematic Wizarding World.

While not magic-users in the traditional sense, Mina and Lima possess exceptional design skills that brought the magical world to life on screen. Their expertise includes:

  • Graphic Design: Creating a vast array of print materials, from newspapers and books to packaging and posters, that feel authentic to the Wizarding World.
  • Calligraphy and Typography: Designing unique handwriting for different characters (such as Harry Potter's acceptance letter) and developing distinct fonts for publications like the Daily Prophet.
  • Illustration: Creating original artwork for props, including the intricate drawings on the Black Family Tapestry and the illustrations within textbooks.
  • World-Building: Their cohesive design work established a consistent and immersive visual identity for the entire franchise, helping to define the look and feel of the magical community for a generation of viewers. (film)
