Albus Severus Potter is a Half-blood wizard, the second son of Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley. His brief but significant appearance in the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows establishes him as a key figure in the next generation of the Potter family. His primary role in the original series is to illustrate the weight of his father's legacy and to bring closure to the complex relationship between Harry Potter, Albus Dumbledore, and Severus Snape, from whom he gets his name.

Albus's life is primarily detailed in the epilogue of the final novel, set nineteen years after the Battle of Hogwarts.

On 1 September 2017, an eleven-year-old Albus arrives at King's Cross Station on Platform Nine and Three-Quarters with his family to board the Hogwarts Express for his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He is accompanied by his father, Harry Potter; his mother, Ginny Weasley; his older brother, James Sirius Potter; and his younger sister, Lily Luna Potter. On the platform, Albus expresses deep anxiety to his father about the possibility of being sorted into Slytherin House. His brother James had been teasing him about it. Harry reassures Albus by telling him that he was named for two Hogwarts headmasters, one of whom—Severus Snape—was a Slytherin and was “probably the bravest man I ever knew.” Harry also reveals that the Sorting Hat will take his personal choice into account, just as it did for Harry himself. Comforted by his father's words, Albus boards the train with his cousin, Rose Granger-Weasley, to begin his magical education.

Albus is the only one of Harry's three children to have inherited Lily Potter's distinctive almond-shaped green eyes. He also has his father's messy black hair. From his appearance in the epilogue, Albus appears to be a thoughtful, sensitive, and somewhat anxious boy. He is deeply concerned with the legacy of his family name and the expectations that come with it. The novels do not specify any unique magical items belonging to Albus Severus. As a first-year student, he would have possessed a wand, schoolbooks, a cauldron, and other standard Hogwarts equipment, all of which would have been carried in his trunk.
