Foundables are the central element of the narrative in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. They are magical entities that have appeared erratically throughout the Muggle world, creating a global crisis that threatens to expose magic to the non-magical population. (video game) When a Foundable appears, it creates a magical signature known as a Trace. These Traces are visible on a magical map to members of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force. Upon approaching a Trace, a witch or wizard will find the Foundable, which is almost always afflicted by a Confoundable—a form of chaotic magic that traps, guards, or otherwise endangers the Foundable. To rescue a Foundable, one must cast the appropriate spell to overcome the Confoundable. (video game)

The appearance of Foundables is a direct result of The Calamity, a magical catastrophe of unknown origin that serves as the central mystery of the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite storyline. In response, the Ministry of Magic and the International Confederation of Wizards sanctioned the formation of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force, a volunteer organization tasked with containing the situation.
