Molly Weasley II

Molly Weasley II is a pure-blood or half-blood witch and the elder daughter of Percy Weasley and his wife, Audrey Weasley. She is the granddaughter of Arthur Weasley and Molly Weasley, after whom she is named. Her only appearance in the novels is during the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Molly represents the new generation of the Weasley family born after the end of the Second Wizarding War.

Molly's exact birthdate is unknown, but she was born after the conclusion of the Second Wizarding War in 1998 to Percy Weasley and his wife Audrey. She has one younger sister, Lucy Weasley. On 1 September 2017, Molly was present at King's Cross Station on Platform Nine and Three-Quarters with her parents and sister to see her cousins off to Hogwarts. She was seen by Harry Potter while her father was loudly discussing broomstick regulations. It is not specified whether Molly was old enough to be attending Hogwarts herself at this time.

The novels provide no description of Molly Weasley II's physical appearance or any details about her personality.

As a young witch, Molly's specific magical abilities and level of skill are unknown. She is presumed to have magical ability, having been born to at least one magical parent, Percy Weasley.

No possessions belonging to Molly are mentioned in the original novels.

Molly is a member of the extensive Weasley family.

  • The name Molly is a traditional diminutive of Mary. While the Hebrew origin of Mary can mean “bitter,” the name is most significant in this context as a direct tribute to her respected and formidable grandmother, Molly Weasley.
  • The surname Weasley is associated with the weasel. J.K. Rowling has stated that she has a fondness for weasels, which are unfairly maligned creatures in the UK. The name also connects the family to their home, The Burrow, as weasels live in burrows.
  • Molly's name, along with that of her mother Audrey and sister Lucy, is not mentioned in the text of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Their names were revealed by J.K. Rowling in a family tree released after the publication of the final book (J.K. Rowling interview/family tree).
  • In the film adaptation Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, Percy is briefly visible on Platform Nine and Three-Quarters during the epilogue, but he is not shown with a wife or daughters (film).
